[LOOKING BACK ON 2009]

2009 has provided The Love Alliance with many hurdles but we are proud to say that we have weathered through the storms and have had a very successful year.

We are ecstatic to announce that our groups have grown considerably in 2009. We started the year with thirty-five groups and now have over sixty in four different countries! These groups are the heart of our organization. They enable us to activate whole communities of people around the world. This year they have participated in our action projects; educated their communities; held community clean ups; food drives, clothes drives; donated time to shelters; and have held creative fundraisers to raise thousands of dollars that went directly to making a difference towards injustice. We cannot express how honored we are that all of our group members have joined us in this fight against social injustice and are excited to add new members to our numbers every day.

This past year we successfully launched a new website. Some new features include regular blogs; a section for individuals to submit their stories and pictures of them making an impact on social injustice; information on the projects we help support; a ton more information on social justice issues and what everyone can do to make a difference towards them; and much more. We are excited at the platform this website has provided us to educate and equip the general public and are hopeful to make updates in the future that will enable it to be an even more effective tool.

In 2009 The Love Alliance attended 14 different festivals in states across the U.S. These festivals were packed with in some cases over 80,000 people. It was our first year on the road with interns and we could not have done everything without Candice Gordon and Brian Morgante. With them working hard along side us we distributed over 50,000 educational flyers and talked to countless individuals about the social justice issues we represent. We were able to connect in person with familiar faces, group members as well as new people who had not heard of The Love Alliance before.

In 2008 we distributed 50,000 educational flyers. We made it our goal for ’09 to double that amount and distribute 100,000 flyers. We are proud to announce that we have distributed more than 100,000 flyers in 2009! These flyers go a long way in educating individuals on social injustice while providing them with means to make a difference towards injustice. Through our time on the road we have met so many people who these educational flyers mean a great deal to. They often serve as a catalyst for those wanting to use their lives to make a difference in this world. We met an elderly woman who uses the flyers as bookmarks for her Bible so she can be reminded often of the needs of the world and her ability to impact them. We also remember one specific mother in Buffalo, NY, who told us about her 9 year old son who taped the flyers to his wall to remind him of the needs in the world and his ability to help meet those needs. We are thrilled at the impact these flyers have had in evoking passion in individuals to use their lives to make a difference towards injustice in the world.

By the end of 2008 we were able to finally pay one staff member. Unfortunately we had to discontinue this salary at the beginning of the year due to budget issues that much of the rest of the country was also feeling. We are glad to say that we were able to partially reinstate this salary after the success of our summer tour.

We strongly believe in partnering with other people, organizations, and businesses that are likeminded in using the tools at their disposal to make a difference in this world. This year 25% of our “Remember the Thirsty” merchandise went to build wells in sub-Saharan Africa through Blood:Water Mission. 25% of our “Remember the Poor” merchandise went to sponsoring specific children in Haiti through Compassion International. 25% of our “Remember the Sick” merchandise went to purchasing anti-retroviral (AIDS) medication for children in South Africa through Keep A Child Alive. 25% of our “Remember the Enslaved” merchandise went to sponsoring a home in the Philippines through Love 146 for children who have been rescued out of sex slavery. We also held 3 separate events this year for TOMS Shoes. For every pair of shoes sold at the event, a pair of shoes was given to a child in need throughout the world.

[GOALS FOR 2010]

Our main purpose as an organization has been and will remain the same, to educate individuals on social injustice issues and to equip them with ways that they can make a tangible difference towards them in their every day lives. All of our goals in 2010 will be to further this purpose of helping educate and equip the general public.

With two successful summers of festival touring under our belt we plan to once again attend many festivals and events in 2010. We hope to either purchase a touring vehicle by this summer or receive a tax deductible donated vehicle as this would help us greatly on the road.  We are also looking into the possibility of sending out more than one team so that we can make the most of a busy touring season.

Now that we are able to once again pay one key staff member a partial salary our next goal is naturally to pay our employee a full time salary. Within the year it is also our hope to be in a financial position to begin to pay more staff and crucial volunteers full time. There is no way we could do any of this with out the support of many day to day individuals. We would like to support them as they give of their valuable time and talent to support The Love Alliance

Our goal for our groups in 2010 is to strengthen the current groups that we have. Naturally we will gain in numbers. Ideally we would like to see at least 30 more groups before 2011. But our focus will not be to add to our numbers, it will be to undergird and support the groups that we currently have through new opportunities, systems, and resources we will offer to them.

A big project we will be working on for 2010 is a website and video series. These videos will be discussing and defining social justice. They will feature influential individuals discussing how they define social justice and what they are doing to make a difference towards the needs of the world. These videos will also serve as a tool to better understand and teach others about some of the complex issues we represent.

We will also be launching a campaign in the new year that will allow us to facilitate a number of homeless events.  These will ideally be fun day events for the homeless of major cities.  Not only will the events attend to the immediate needs of the individuals in attendance but they will also get them connected with long term help for themselves and their families.

This year The Love Alliance community will be working to raise the funds to build at least one clean water system in a community desperate for water.  While we have donated in the past towards building wells, this year we are making a specific goal towards a specific well.  Join us this year as we raise the funds to build one or more wells around the world.

[HOW YOU CAN HELP]

There are so many ways that you can help us in 2010.  The biggest way we would love for you to get involved is to join us in our monthly Action Projects whether that be as an individual or through joining or starting a group in your area.

We have many goals for 2010.  We could not have arrived to where we are now without the support of those around us.  We are aware that you are all uniquely gifted in the fields of art, finance, law, research, grant writing, etc. We love to hear your ideas and would more than appreciate your help in the coming year. If you have a way you believe you can contribute to our organization contact us at Action@thelovealliance.net.

Our sights are set high this year.  We aim to distribute 100,000 educational flyers; create an educational video series; launch a homeless campaign; build a clean water system; obtain a touring vehicle; better equip our groups; and start paying full time staff.  The only way we can accomplish these goals is through financial support.  If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation you can do so securely online via www.thelovealliance.net or through check or money order sent to The Love Alliance, PO Box 111431, Palm Bay, FL 321907.  If you have a van, SUV, or similar touring vehicle you would like to donate to The Love Alliance email Info@thelovealliance.net or call (321)989-0349.  If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation in someone’s name this holiday season please be sure to make a note at the time of your donation.

We look forward to new and exciting things in the year ahead.

Sincerely,

David and Lauren Ranzino
