October is Fair Trade Month and our Action Project this month is to request and drink only fair trade coffee whenever possible. You can ask your favorite coffee shop if they have a fair trade option (they often do). Buy fair trade coffee from the supermarket to make at home, etc.
Luckily fair trade coffee is becoming even more accessible because of the demand that is being placed on it. And if we increase that demand this month, we should be able to see it show up in even more places.
Below is a extensive list of national cafes, restaurants and retailers that carry fair trade coffee along with a list of brands who are fair trade or have fair trade options. If we have left any out please list them below in the comments.

Is there a fair-trade brand that you would recommend at Stop & Shop?

Our guess is that they carry one of the brands listed above (please see "BRANDS who are fair trade or have fair trade options" above). At the very least they should carry Newman's Own.

I usually shop at Hannaford's in Maine, but I go to Shaw's just for my coffee. The name is Wild Harvest Organic......fair trade ground coffee,, 100% arabica slow roasted. I buy decaf only. I have even looked at Walmart in the food area. No fair trade decaf. So I continue to go to Shaw's.
I also want to say that the trafficking of children has been my soapbox for years. I have been following love146.org. The story is compelling. I'll never forget it. I help where I can.

In the pursuit of fair trade coffee I always ask any vendor I run across with
coffee if their product is fair traded. Today I ran into a vendor at the farmer
market that was a Direct Trade coffee seller. They get the beans from the
farmers. When I asked more he explained the Direct trade concept, a children's
home they support and future mission trips that are planned.
From their New Earth Goods web:
...We desire to move beyond Fair Trade by working towards a Direct Trade
policy. We personally know the coffee farmers we are trying to help...
Check out this web. It seems this group is doing much good to move beyond the
norm and actually impact many lives. What do you think of this new change? It
does make sense that many of the poorest farmers would not be able to become
certified organic or fair trade...
