Reports continue to come out of Haiti after an estimated 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck the country, with the epicenter located just 10 miles from the capital, Port-au-Prince. The death toll estimate has been placed at over 100,000 with some speculating it may be as high as 500,000. An estimated 3 million people will have been effected by the earthquake.
Haiti is one the poorest and most densely-populated countries in the Western Hemisphere. Currently 54% of the population living in Haiti lives on less than $1 a day. [ref.] The Love Alliance community supports two children in Haiti. Their names are Djemson and Ketnise. We support them through a partner organization, Compassion International, who does extraordinary work in the country.
Many people have asked us where they should give and the fact is there are many organizations who are already on the ground helping and making a difference. Here is a list that we have compiled through several different sources:

• Children’s Hunger Fund

Convoy of Hope is another organization that is serving Haiti. They already had an operation on the ground serving there. The volunteers and some of the facilities made it through the earthquake and they are currently working on the ground.

@Cristian: I honestly think that the amount of money spent on sending fresh bread from the Northeast US might not be worth it. I would recommend donating the money that would be spent in making the bread to an org. that provides food. That way you can make sure none of the food will bad before it gets into the hands of the people who need it. An organization listed here and one that we have a relationship is Child's Hunger Fund. They provide food and have done some great things in Haiti.
@Lashawn: No need to feel overwhelmed or bad. Check out some of these organization's websites and see how you can help.

I a657man, I do believe Baby Doc is going to take over power in HAiti. we as the people need to pay very close attention to the following:
01: why Mr.Duvalier is here.
02: Did Mr. Duvalier knows He was to going to house court.
03: Did Duvalier really going to Jail for the crimes.
04: I think Mr. Duvalier is using the court system to clean his name. and to take over Haiti.
05. Mr. Duvalier is very wise man.
06: would Duvalier come to Haiti Just to go to Jail? I don't think so.
07. by the way, how home he is able to come to haiti, and no one else can't.
08: remember we have an election that is on going in Haiti right now, and no one yet knows it outcomes.
09: I do think the USA and France and Haiti Goverment has something to do with Mr. Duvalier in Haiti
