The Love Alliance Newsletter #25
If this is your
first time receiving our newsletter, welcome! We are excited for all
of you to join with us in making justice and compassion a part of your
everyday life.
LAST MONTH HAPPENINGS
The month of June has been non-stop touring to music festivals for The Love Alliance. We started at Ichthus Festival in Wilmore KY.
One of our interns Krissee Danger had to drop off of the tour for
personal reasons but we were lucky to have a good friend and supporter
Brian Morgante fill her place. From Ichthus we went to Alive Festival in Canal Fulton OH. It was exciting to see faces of young people light
up when they realized that yes the issues we represent are sad, but
there is something they can do about all of them. From Alive Festival
we drove over to Creation Festival in Mt. Union PA. We were so encouraged by the welcoming response we
received by the festival attendees. Our booth was non-stop busy with
people wanting to know how they can get involved. Eric Timm a fantastic artist/speaker supported us during one of his speaking
sessions using our facts and pointing people to us. From Creation we
headed over to Cornerstone Festival in Bushnell IL, which is where we are right now. This is our third
year at Cornerstone. Coming here is a lot like coming home. We are
glad to see all the familiar faces and meet new people who want their
lives to leave a lasting legacy. David just celebrated his 26th
birthday on Thursday.
We were glad to be celebrating amongst friends at Cornerstone. We will
be speaking on today on one of the stages, which will be great. Then
we will be heading out to Lifest in Oshkosh WI.
Stay up to date on more detailed blogs on festivals, crazy weather, 2nd degree burns and all things tour on our tour blog. Also be sure to check back to the blog shortly to see our video blogs. We have also posted a bunch of tour pictures on our Flickr,
which include festival pictures, pictures of supporters and pictures
from our trip to a wild life refuge where we were able to play with
rescued baby tigers and bears.
We
started the festivals out on a great note already starting a group due
to Ichthus. We are excited for our newest Clarksville, TN group to be
added to our group listing. We are confident they will do great things
within their community and the world. We talked with many other people
at the festivals who were excited about starting a group so we are
confident that we will be adding many more new groups in the near
future. If you would like to start a Love Alliance group in your area
simply click here to fill out our simple group application.
We
are excited to announce that with the tour being not even half way over
we have already handed out more than 20,000 educational flyers. These
flyers are a great starting point for people to learn about the various
social justice issues we represent and how they can make a difference towards them on a
regular basis. We even had teachers approach us at festivals stating
they were going to use our flyers as a part of their curriculum this
year. We are excited for the great things that these cards will spark
in the people who read and apply them to their life. The response has
also left us excited about hopefully forming a curriculum in the near
future.
ACTION PROJECT
Last month was The Love Alliance’s 2nd anniversary.
In recognition of our second birthday we encouraged people to hold
T.L.A. birthday parties to celebrate with us and welcome new people
from their communities to get involved with what we are doing to impact
social injustice. We will be posting pictures from parties in the You In Action section shortly. All in all we are thankful for all of you who have
stood with us for two years and are energized at the exponential
possibilities we have to impact injustice as more individuals add to
our numbers daily.
THIS MONTH HAPPENINGS
We still have quite a
bit of touring left for the summer many of which are this month. We
have had individuals come and volunteer at some festivals, which has
been a huge help. If you are attending any of the festivals we will be
at and would like to volunteer with us simply reply back to this
email.
July 8-12: Lifest – Oshkosh, WI

July 29-August 1: SoulFest – Gilford, NH
August 2-5: Kingdom Bound – Darien Lake, NY
August 14-15: Purple Door – Lewisberry, PA
If
you were thinking about coming to SoulFest in Gilford, NH this summer
then we have great news for you. SoulFest has given a 25% discount on
festival tickets to all T.L.A. supporters. Simply order your tickets
at www.thesoulfest.com with the discount code of “TLA09.” We are thankful to SoulFest for their support and we hope to see many of you there.
We
have had a fantastic response to our new “Remember The Homeless” flyer
card. Individuals at every festival have asked us if we have any
shirts or bags with the saying on it (which we currently do not). So
due to popular demand we will be adding “Remember The Homeless”
merchandise to our webstore in the fall.
ACTION PROJECT
This month we will be
focusing on remembering the sick, specifically those in our communities
in need of life saving blood. We are asking all people involved with
The Love Alliance to give blood to their local blood bank this month.
This is such a simple, cost free way to be a part of saving someone’s
life. We would recommend calling ahead to see if you need to make an
appointment. We do understand that not everyone can give blood because
of one reason or another. If this is the case we encourage you to first
get a few of your friends to donate. Another alternative is to
volunteer at your local blood bank. We are planning on donating at
Cornerstone and we encourage the rest of you to join us.
