Summer Tour is almost upon us and we are busy getting everything ready.  As our third anniversary comes around we are getting excited to see so many of you this summer and to meet and educate so many more.

LAST MONTH - HAPPENINGS

Last month was full of preparation for our Summer Festival Tour.  All of our applications have been turned in and our schedule is set.  We have ordered educational flyers, merchandise, stickers, banners, etc.

We announced that we were printing two Limited Edition shirts as a way to raise money for our Summer Tour. Thank you so much to those that donated!  Your shirts will be printed and sent out in mid-June.  If you would still like to grab one of the super soft American Apparel Tri-Blend Limited Edition shirts click here get more details.

Last month we were honored to have the amazingly talented Eric Ryan Anderson shoot a video for a campaign that we are launching this summer called “What is Social Justice?”  Check below in “This Month – Happenings” section to read more about this exciting campaign.

LAST MONTH - ACTION PROJECT

Last month we asked for your help and support in raising money for our Summer Tour.  Thank you so much to the individuals and groups who donated, put on benefit concerts and found other ways to raise money for our tour. Without you, this summer would not be possible.

We can still use your help in raising funds and it is not too late to do any of the following:

- Put on a benefit concert.  If you need help with this please email us at info@thelovealliance.net
- Search for change and/or hold a loose change drive.
- Hold a bake sale or car wash at school, church or in your community.
- Of course you can also donate yourself.  If you donate $25 or more by June 15th you can snag a Limited Edition T-Shirt.  Click here for more details on that.
- Donate via your small business or ask local small businesses that you know to donate (be sure to remind them that their donations are 100% tax deductible).

Once you have raised and collected the money you can either make an online donation here or send a check or money order to: The Love Alliance P.O. Box 111431 Palm Bay, FL 32911.

THIS MONTH - HAPPENINGS

June is a very busy month for The Love Alliance and is the start to what will surely be a very busy summer.  To start out the month our Groups Coordinator Candice Gordon left once again for Haiti yesterday to continue relief work with YWAM Haiti.  She will be there until June 19th and will be updating The Love Alliance community on the status of relief work in Haiti.

June 7th marks three years from when we first started The Love Alliance.  It has been quite the journey and we are so thankful for the people that we have met and for those of you that have joined us in making a difference towards social injustice.  We remain committed to the organization and remain committed to combating social injustice around the world. Celebrate with us this month by diving in more to what we are doing and by spreading the word.

Last year we were honored to speak at the HOBY Mid-Florida Leadership Seminar.  It was a great experience and we were super impressed with the creativity and drive of the current and future young leaders that were in attendance.  We have been invited back this year and David Ranzino will be speaking at the seminar on June 12th in St. Petersburg, FL.

We are leaving for tour in less than 9 days on June 14th.  As we have mentioned before our Summer Festival Tour is one of the most important things that we do because it is where we reach the most amount of people all at once.  The past two and a half summers have been super successful and we are ecstatic to be out on the road again.  We are confident that this summer’s tour will once again be a great success in educating the general public and getting them connected to making a difference towards social injustice. We are excited for our tour team members Hade Smith and Matt Rumbly to lead the charge at many of the festivals we will be attending.  If you see them be sure to stop by, introduce yourself and let them know how The Love Alliance and the issues we represent have effected your life.

If you are attending any of these festivals, we would love your help.  Volunteers have been a huge asset and have been a great way for you to get involved with the organization.  There will only be 2 full time tour team members at most of our festivals this summer.  While they are super passionate and hard working, they will be going for months at a time so we would like to give them as much help as possible to insure that they have the stamina to make it the whole summer.  Having at least 1 volunteer at the booth allows for our tour team to be able to take meal, bathroom, and mental health breaks.  Here is a list of all of the festivals we will be at, email info@thelovealliance.net if you will be at any of them as we need and would love your help:

June 16-19: Ichthus Festival - Wilmore, KY
June 23-26: Alive Festival – Mineral City, OH
June 28-July 3: Cornerstone Festival – Bushnell, IL
June 30-July 3: Creation Festival – Mt. Union, PA
July 7-July 11: Lifest – Oshkosh, WI
August 1-4: Kingdom Bound – Darien Lake, NY
August 4-7: Soulfest – Gilford, NH
August 13-14: Purple Door – Lewisberry, PA
September 4-5: Revelation Generation – Frenchtown, NJ

We have once again partnered with SoulFest this year and they have given our supporters a 15% discount on their entire Soulfest order.  Simply order your tickets at www.thesoulfest.com with the discount code of “lovealliance10”  This is an amazing festival thats complete focus is using music to spread their vision of making a difference towards injustice throughout the world.  We are thankful to SoulFest for their continued support and we hope to see many of you there.

With the start of tour also comes some new tour exclusive items that we will have out with us on the road.  We have finally printed the much requested “Remember the Homeless” shirts; new versions of our “Remember the Poor,” “Remember the Enslaved,” and “Remember the Thirsty” shirts; a new Tank Top; new buttons and stickers; and new free stickers for the booth.  Be sure to stop by to say hello, pick up some new merch and get some free stickers while you’re there.

Last but not least as we mentioned before, we are launching a new campaign and website this summer called “What is Social Justice?”  The launch date is June 15th to coincide with the start of tour.  With so many disputes on what social justice actually is, we are asking the question, “What is social justice to you?”  Feeding the poor, caring for the sick, giving a voice to the voiceless? This campaign is meant to educate people on the real meaning of social justice and to uplift those that make it a part of their everyday life.  You will be able to share your answers through text or video on our website at www.whatissocialjustice.com starting June 15th.  We will also be asking people this question at our booth all summer long.  Add your voice to the conversation and join with us on June 15th to make this campaign a success.

THIS MONTH - ACTION PROJECT

We are so blessed and thankful to be completing our 3rd year as a non-profit organization.  With gratitude for all we have as a non-profit and as a community of generous people we would like to "Remember The Homeless" this month.  As we reflect on all we have, we are grateful for the ability to give to those who are without.  While the need is obvious during the cold months, we do not want to forget them as the summer month’s come as there is still so much we can do to meet needs in our community.  This month we encourage everyone to find your own personal way to remember the homeless in your community and the world.  We could "Remember the Homeless" by donating essentials that we so easily forget such as hygiene products, sun screen, new socks and undergarments, paper products (paper towels, plates, cups) that local soup kitchens and shelters might need. Go to a popular city park with your friends and distribute peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or hand out water (This was The Love Alliance’s very first Action Project in August ’07).  All in all, we encourage you to get creative.  What do you love to do?  How can you use that to make a difference towards homelessness in your community and the world this month?
