The Love Alliance Newsletter #35

Summer is fast approaching and so is our Summer Festival Tour. Our tour last summer proved to be much more successful than we could have ever planned for.  During last summer’s tour we distributed over 50,000 educational flyers.  We formed numerous groups. For example just from our booth at Lifest last year we were able to form three groups in three different high schools in the city of Appleton, Wisconsin.

Help us make this summer successful by helping us fundraise so that we can reach thousands of people.  Check out this month's Action Project for more details.

LAST MONTH - HAPPENINGS

This past month was filled with planning for our Summer Tour and things are shaping up nicely.  Applications have been sent in and the wheels are in motion.  It looks like our schedule should be pretty much the same as last year.

We have a great new tour team this summer.  Hade Smith and Matt Rumbley, both from Melbourne, FL, will be at most of the festivals this summer.  David Ranzino will be at about half of the festivals; Candice Gordon will be helping at Cornerstone and Purple Door; and Lauren Ranzino is hoping to attend Purple Door.  We can’t wait to see you all on the road!

Candice Gordon made it back from her trip to Haiti where she did relief work last month.  We are so proud of the work that she was able to do.  She wrote an amazing blog about her journey.  Please make sure to check it out here.

April 8th was TOMS Shoes “One Day Without Shoes.”  ¼ of a million people participated in over 1600 events around the world.  We were happy to see so many Love Alliance members participate in the event. This event was just one of many that happen on a regular basis that we can incorporate into our lives in order to make justice a habit.

LAST MONTH - ACTION PROJECT

Last month was our 3rd Annual Community Cleanup.  We do this every year in recognition of Earth Day and Arbor Day.  It has always been very successful, and it proved to be again this year.  Quite a few of our groups held cleanups in their own towns and even more individuals participated in events already going on for Earth Day.  The Love Alliance Melbourne, FL Group and No Limits Academy were able to have another clean up this year.  They also planted several plants in front of their building as well.  Just because this month has passed doesn’t mean you can’t continue to clean up your community.  Try to make picking up trash and recycling a part of your everyday life.  It takes very little effort but it can make a huge impact.

THIS MONTH - HAPPENINGS

We will continue to plan and work on our Summer Tour until we hit the road in mid-June.  Several applications still need to be turned in and we are researching several new festivals.  We are designing new merchandise and our new booth setup.  We are excited for what this summer has in store.

The biggest need for this summer continues to be transportation.  We are still looking for a vehicle to travel in.  The Love Alliance is a 501(c)3, which means that any van or funds donated towards a van are 100% tax deductible.  If you or someone you know might have a vehicle that you would like to donate to The Love Alliance or sell at a discounted price, please call us at 321-989-0349 or email us at info@thelovealliance.net  as soon as possible.  If you do not have a vehicle or money to donate another possibility would be finding a dealership that might want to donate a vehicle or give us a discount.  If you are interested in soliciting a vehicle for The Love Alliance simply call or email us and we will get you all of the necessary information you need in the process.

Along with finding a vehicle for this summer, we also still need to raise money for this summer’s expenses.  Unfortunately much of touring expenses are required to be paid before tour ever starts (i.e. the cost of booths, gas, merchandise etc.).  While we have always seen all of this money back by the end of tour, it is still a major up-front financial undertaking.  If you would like to invest in educating and enacting large communities of people to make social change we would love any financial contribution you may be able to give.  As always, all donations are tax deductible.  Beyond individual’s donating we are also talking to businesses about sponsoring our Summer Tour.  If your business would like to make a tax deductible product or fiscal donation for this summer’s tour we would love to talk with you via phone or email.  Please check out this month’s Action Project for more information.

As one way to raise money for the Summer Tour, we are printing two Limited Edition shirts! These shirts will be our square logo printed on super soft American Apparel Tri-Blend Track Shirts (colors – Athletic Blue and Tri-Orchid) If you donate $25 or more to our Summer Tour you will have a choice of one of these shirts.  Click here to make your donation online or mail your donation to The Love Alliance P.O. Box 111431 Palm Bay, FL 32911.  Please include what size and color shirt you would like in the "for" or "note" section of your donation. (Note: American Apparel Tri-Blend Track Shirts run about a size small.  So if you normally wear a small order a medium and so on.)

We couldn’t have made it through our tour last summer without the help of so many of you who volunteered at each festival along the way.  If you are attending any of the festivals that we will be at and would like to volunteer at our booth we would love your help.  Or if you live near one of the festivals we will be attending and would like to host our tour team at your home while they are working at the festival we would love to hear from you.  Simply email info@thelovealliance.net with the festival, along with your name, contact information, and if you would like to volunteer at the festival or if you would like to provide a host home to our tour team.

THIS MONTH - ACTION PROJECT

If you have not yet figured out through this tour filled newsletter, Summer Tour is just around the corner.  Our Summer Festival Tour is one of the most important things that we do because it is where we reach the most people.  The majority of our educational flyers are distributed on tour and so many of our groups have been formed out of the people that we have met at these festivals.  As we stated earlier in the newsletter this tour costs a lot of money and the majority of this money is needed up front.  We need your help to fundraise for this summer.  We have broken down our cost and before we even hit the road on June 15th, we still need over $2,000.  More bills are due throughout the summer, but in order to even start tour we need this amount paid for.  This might seem like a big task, but know that every penny helps and every penny counts.  We are asking you to help us fundraise so that we can reach thousands of people this summer.

Here are some ways you can easily help raise money before we leave for tour on June 15th:
- Put on a benefit concert.  If you need help with this please email us at info@thelovealliance.net
- Search for change and/or hold a loose change drive.
- Hold a bake sale or car wash at school, church or in your community.
- Of course you can also donate yourself.  If you donate $25 or more you can snag a Limited Edition T-Shirt.
- Donate via your small business or ask local small businesses that you know to donate (be sure to remind them that their donations are 100% tax deductible).

Once you have raised and collected the money you can either make an online donation here or send a check or money order to: The Love Alliance P.O. Box 111431 Palm Bay, FL 32911.
