Summer is approaching and so is our Summer Festival Tour. Check out This Month – Happenings for more information.

LAST MONTH - HAPPENINGS

Last month was a very big and busy month for us. If you don’t follow us on Twitter and Facebook then you probably aren’t aware that we were selected as a call to action non-profit for Mark Ruffalo’s new movie “Sympathy for Delicious.” The movie deals with the issues of homelessness and compassion; and tells the story about a man coming to terms with who he is and in that learning to truly give. The movie is Mark Ruffalo’s directorial debut and stars Christopher Thornton, Juliette Lewis, Orlando Bloom, Laura Linney and more.

As part of our partnership we attended a small, private Q&A with Mark and were able to sit down with him to talk about The Love Alliance, his movie and compassion. We released a short video of that interview entitled “Mark Ruffalo for The Love Alliance.” We had a great reception for the video with it being shared on Facebook and Twitter over 400 times and received over 550 views in just a few short days. If you still haven’t seen the video you can do so here.

We also received a movie poster autographed by the entire cast that we raffled off for all those that “Liked” our video on Facebook and “Retweeted” on Twitter. The winner was selected last Friday and congratulations to Evic Oropilla from San Diego, CA, who won via Twitter. Your movie poster will be sent out in the next few weeks.

“Sympathy For Delicious” released on April 29th in NYC and LA. A small group of us attended in NYC and were also able attend a Q&A with Christopher Thornton (screenwriter and main actor) and Orlando Bloom. The movie was great and touches on so many points that The Love Alliance does. If you are in NYC or LA we highly encourage you to go see the film. The trailer, screening information and more can be found at www.sympathyfordelicious.com

We started submitting applications for our Summer Festival Tour this past month. This will be our fifth summer on the road.  We have big plans for this summer and are excited to reconnect with T.L.A. supporters across the country. Check This Month – Happenings for more information.

LAST MONTH - ACTION PROJECT

Last month’s Action Project was our 4th Annual Community Cleanup.  Our groups and supporters participated in community cleanups around the world to celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day. It was great to hear and see what an impact can be made on the earth in just one month.  Our Brooklyn clean-up was rained out but has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 28. If you live in or are visiting the NYC area during that time we would love if you joined us. See our calendar for more information on the event.

THIS MONTH - HAPPENING

As we mentioned above we were able to meet and sit down with Mark Ruffalo to talk about The Love Alliance, his new movie “Sympathy for Delicious,” and compassion. He is such a genuine person and had some wonderful insights on many of the issues we represent. We were able to get some great footage and are putting the finishing touches on some cuts of that interview. We will be releasing them in the next week or so on our site, social networks, youtube and vimeo. Be on the lookout and please share with your networks. We would love for our dialogue with Mark to continue within the rest of The Love Alliance community.

We also mentioned sending in applications for our Summer Festival Tour. In our four previous summer tours we have been able to spread the word about The Love Alliance and the social justice issues we represent at various large music festivals. We have seen a huge amount of success at these events and continue to see eyes opened to the injustices in the world every year. This tour has been our most effective tool each year to get people plugged in to our organization on a widescale level. We are committed to continue to connect with people in person on these tours but it takes a good amount of money to prepare for and attend these events. Each festival has a very substantial booth fee; merchandise and literature are printed for us to distribute at the events; and we undertake the expense of travel, lodging and food for our tour team. Every year you, our supporters, have made our Summer Festival Tour possible by donating to these expenses and volunteering at each festival along the way. So we once again are requesting your help to make this tour possible. Every dollar you donate will go directly towards educating and empowering individuals to make a difference towards injustice. You can make a secure online donation here or send a check or money order to:
The Love Alliance PO Box 111431 Palm Bay, FL 32911

Another great way to support The Love Alliance is through our online webstore: www.thelovealliancestore.com Any merchandise sales that come in now will help fund our summer tour.  Not only do they help the organization attain its purpose but we have designed our shirts to be a tool for you as well. Our goal for our merchandise is to create wearable ways for you to impact injustice. Each “Remember” shirt helps fund projects that are meeting that need. So by purchasing that shirt you are in turn making a difference toward it.  Our shirts also provide you with a great tool to start conversations about the needs in the world and all of our ability to impact them.

We will also continue with our Action Project Sale this month to coincide with this month’s Action Project and Focus – Clean Water. So during this month, ‘Remember the Thirsty’ merchandise will be 15% off and ‘Remember the Thirsty Flyer Cards’ (50 pack) are just $1. Click here to purchase your discounted “Remember The Thirsty” merchandise or check out our other great products in the webstore.

THIS MONTH - ACTION PROJECT

Our May/June Focus is on the Clean Water Epidemic. While this is arguably one of the largest world needs it is also a need that is greatly unknown about in developed countries.  This month we encourage you to freshen your knowledge on the clean water epidemic and to more importantly educate others on this issue that effects nearly 1 Billion people in the world. We have updated the facts within the Remember the Thirsty section of our website as well as added quite a bit of new facts which are all primary sourced. Our organization is here to serve as a tool for you to be educated and empowered to make a difference towards injustice in the world.  We want you to have the most up to date facts on the issues so you can learn and share.

Next week we will be sharing a video about a clean water issue that Mark Ruffalo spoke with us about. Be on the lookout, check out the video and be sure to share with your friends and family. We also encourage you to check out and share other great resources such as Charity:Water’s new and amazing video “Water Changes Everything.” This is an injustice that we have the ability to make a substantial impact on. Lets continue to open our eyes and the eyes of the world to this issue.
