Thanksgiving is this month. Lets give thanks for what we have and help those who have little this month. Check out this month's Action Project to find out how.
LAST MONTH - HAPPENINGS
Last month fully consisted of planning for the new year and meetings. Find out more in This Month – Happenings.
LAST MONTH - ACTION PROJECT
Last
month was Fair Trade month and we focused on Fair Trade Coffee. We
asked you to request and drink only fair trade coffee whenever
possible. We had a great response to this project and to our Fair Trade Coffee Blog where we posted different brands and locations to purchase fair trade coffee.
We also asked you to let us know where and what brands you were purchasing and quite a few of you responded. We were told that Shaw’s carries some great fair trade coffee called Wild Harvest Organic; that Green Mountain's Wild Mountain Blueberry is delicious; that Target carries Archer Farms fair Trade Espresso; and more. You can read more responses and add your own on our Fair Trade Coffee Blog.
Just because October is over doesn’t mean you have to stop drinking fair trade coffee. Combat poverty and human trafficking by making this a part of your everyday life. If we demand fair trade coffee, we will see more of it and can make it the norm ensuring that coffee producers are paid a fair wage in a safe environment worldwide. Coffee provides another opportunity for us to incorporate justice into the things we do and buy every day.

THIS MONTH - HAPPENINGS
This
past year has been one of changes. It has included a move to New York
City, welcoming new key people, and saying goodbye to some old ones. We
continue to plan for what is next as we move into 2011. There are
going to be some big changes and we still aren’t even sure what all that
entails. We will spend the rest of this year planning and implementing
these changes and are excited to announce some of them at the New Year.
We
have finally updated our online webstore inventory, so if you have
wanted to buy a certain shirt but we were out of your size, chances are
it is there now. You can check out our webstore here.
Speaking
of our webstore, we will be adding new products, revealing new pictures
and a new layout this month. Our new products will include our very
popular “Remember to Act” Tri-Blend Tank that we had out on tour this
summer, the “Remember The Homeless” shirt, and our “Remember to Act”
wristbands. Be on the lookout for these and more items at the end of
this month.
THIS MONTH - ACTION PROJECT
We
are once again focusing on Thanksgiving for our November Action
Project. The economy is still struggling and families are still having
just as hard of a time providing for themselves. This year many
families won’t be able to afford a traditional Thanksgiving meal but we
can change that by providing meals for them. As we go shopping for our
Thanksgiving meals this month, we are asking that you pick up an extra
can of green beans, package of stuffing, etc. Many local grocery stores
have a place to donate these items in their store. If your grocery store
does not do this, then you can donate these items to a local food bank,
soup kitchen, church, etc. that will be providing Thanksgiving meals.
Last
year we partnered with the New York Dream Center and they were able to
provide meals for over 200 families. This year we are partnering with
them again and they have raised the stakes by hoping to provide
Thanksgiving meals to 500 families. Each full meal will only cost $20
each but you can donate any amount you would like. Checks can be made
payable to: The New York Dream Center 750 Columbus Ave. #2K New York,
New York 10025. Please include "Thanksgiving Meals" in the memo section
and let them know that you are a part of The Love Alliance. If you would
like to make an online donation for the Thanksgiving meals, you can do
so on our website at www.thelovealliance.net/ donate.html be sure to note that it is for “Thanksgiving Meals.”
