WHAT CAN I DO I’M JUST ONE PERSON?
A percentage of the proceeds from every "Remember the Enslaved" product sold goes to the effort to end modern-day slavery in the world. Beyond buying a shirt:
- Continue to educate yourself on the issues. Don't let your knowledge of the modern slavery crisis stop here. Stay up to date on happenings in the world concerning modern day slavery by frequently checking our World News section and the links on slavery in our Links section.
- Educate yourself by watching movies and documentaries on Human Trafficking like: Amazing Grace, Invisible Children:Rough Cut, Call + Response, Branded, etc.
- Promote modern day slavery awareness. Raise awareness in your community or school by speaking out for the world's enslaved. There are so many ways that you can do this:
Ask to speak to your school/class, group, church. Make them aware that slavery exists today more than ever before. If you need help getting started you can purchase Remember The Enslaved flyer cards in our webstore to get the conversation started.
Hold a modern day slavery event via The Love Alliance. We all know that not everyone has the ability to give financially to an issue, but maybe you have the ability to give of your time towards modern day slavery. Get creative in putting together an event towards the relief in ending the modern slave crisis. For help in getting an event started email info@thelovealliance.net
- Buy fair trade products. These are products that have been bought from non-exploited workers. If we can create a demand for these products we can send a message to the producers that we will not stand for exploitation of human beings to simply save a few cents.
- Commit to only drinking fair trade coffee and eating fair trade chocolate. Fair trade alternatives are easy to find.
- Buy sweatshop free/fair trade clothing.
- If you don’t see fair trade products in your favorite stores or coffee shops ask that they carry them.
- Research where your clothes and different products are being made.
- Pick one item you regularly use and find a fair trade alternative for it.
- Find online stores that carry products that are made by survivors of Human Trafficking. For example Made by Survivors.
- Join with The Love Alliance in supporting safe homes for at risk children like Love 146's Pink Home.
- Learn more about different non-profits that are working specifically with the Human Trafficking. Visit our links page to view a list of great organizations.
- Demand change by writing and calling your local and national political representatives and telling them your concerns about slavery in the world. (click here to find your representatives)
