- Climate change caused due to human activities is a scientifically proven fact. Many claim that there is great debate amongst scientists as to whether global warming is real or not, but the fact is that the most respected scientific bodies in the world have clearly stated that global warming is absolutely occurring. [ref.]

With out a doubt climate change due to human activities is occurring. If we just ignore its existence the results will be deadly. We must acknowledge it as a reality and make the necessary steps to reduce its effects.

- If every home in the U.S. changed just one of their regular light bulbs to a compact fluorescent bulb enough green house gases would be prevented to equal the emissions of over 800,000 vehicles. [ref.]

Compact fluorescents cost a little more in the stores than regular light bulbs to purchase, but the bulbs can last up to 7 years and cut your energy use more than in half saving much more than they cost. Imagine the impact you can have on the environment and your wallet if you make the commitment to only use compact fluorescents in your home and office.

- Cars, trucks and other vehicles account for almost 1/3 of the United States air pollution. [ref.]

Obviously vehicles leave a major mark on the environment. If we can limit the amount we drive, or drive better vehicles that give out less emissions when we do drive, then we can have a considerable positive impact on air pollution.

- About 75 percent of the energy consumed by home appliances occurs while they're turned off but still plugged in. [ref.]

Take an inventory of all of your plugged in appliances, televisions, d.v.d. players, toasters, blow dryers. 75% of the energy they use is when they are plugged in and not even being used. The first step to reducing this waste in energy is to plug all of your cords into surge protectors that can be turned off an on as needed.

-The U.S., with a population of 301 million, consumes more fossil fuels than any other country in the world including China whose population is 1.3 billion. [ref. 1] [ref. 2] [ref. 3]

The world has become hugely dependent on fossil fuels, or petroleum. The emissions from the burning of these fuels are a major contributor in climate change. Because we have become so dependent on vehicle transportation, we must be very careful as to use alternative transportation that does not take fossil fuels and must be aware of the types of vehicles we drive and what kind of impact they are having on the environment.

WHAT CAN I DO I’M JUST ONE PERSON?

A percentage of proceeds from every "Remember the Environment" (coming soon) shirt sold goes to the efforts of de-polluting the world we live in for our generation and future generations. Beyond buying a shirt:

- Continue to educate yourself on the issues. Don't let your knowledge of the environmental crisis stop here. Stay up to date on happenings in the world concerning the environment by frequently checking our World News section and the links concerning the environment in our Links section.

- REDUCE - Reduce your emissions as much as possible through carpooling, trading out regular light bulbs for compact fluorescents, unplugging appliances when they are not in use, buying a vehicle that gets better gas mileage, use public transportation, walk or ride a bike instead of driving, take shorter showers, etc. Minimize buying products with excess packaging as much as possible. When possible buy the concentrated version of your product as it takes much less packaging.

- REUSE - Choose reusable items rather than disposable when at all possible. Refill your water bottle(s) rather than throwing it away and using another, use washable dishes rather than disposable in your house and for picnics, use rechargeable batteries, shop with reusable shopping bags, etc.

- RECYCLE - Before throwing something in the garbage ask yourself “can this be recycled?” Almost everything can from packaging to broken cell phones. If you aren’t sure if it’s recyclable email info@thelovealliance.net and we will help answer your question(s). Often times recycling bins are free in your city and are picked up weekly just like trash. Or recycling can be dropped off at local centers. To find all the recycling centers in your area visit:
www.recyclingcenters.org.

- Promote environmental issues - Raise awareness in your community or school by speaking out; give our polluted dying earth a voice. There are so many ways that you can do this:

Ask to speak to your school/class, group, or church. Make them aware of the environmental crisis. If you need help getting started you can purchase “Remember The Environment” flyer cards in our webstore (coming soon) to get the conversation started.

Hold an environmental crisis event via The Love Alliance. We all know that not everyone has the ability to give financially to an issue, but maybe you have the ability to give of your time towards environmental issues. Get creative in putting together an event towards environmental relief. For help in getting an event started email:
info@thelovealliance.net.

- Demand change by writing and calling your local and national political representatives and telling them your concerns about the necessity of stricter government regulated environmental standards. (click here to find your representatives)
