Hi my name is Jane and I'm currently a senior in high school. I was introduced to what Social Justice was about 2 years ago when i joined the BRIDGES club on my campus. BRIDGES is a school club tied in with OC Human Relations, who provides programs in partnerships with schools, corporations, individuals, cities and foundations to eliminate prejudice, intolerance and discrimination. I've gained so much knowledge from this program so I decided to take it back and share it with the community. This past week I ran a "Teens for Jeans" drive at my school which was tied in with dosomething.org and Aeropastale. We collected well over 75 pairs of jeans, which were all donated to teens living in poverty. Currently, we are communicating with Invisible Children now and have set up a screening which will take place during our International Week at school. The entire BRIDGES program has really given the students at my school a greater outlook on the world, and has inspired change in their hearts. We are a few steps closer to changing the world for the better.
