For the September cleaning project, we collected 83 lbs of donations! It's pretty huge for us, considering it's our first month of starting this group.

One of our goals during this project was for our youth volunteers to really become aware of community issues, organizations, and resources, so part of their job was to research different non-profits that accept donations. We encouraged them to think outside the box (instead of simply choosing Goodwill or the Salvation Army) and really find organizations that meet issues that are important to them. Our results:

A GIANT box of 3-ring binders went to Youth On Their Own,

3 boxes of gently used toys went to Primavera Greyhound Family Shelter,

Our box or youth/teen clothes went to Skrappy's (It's a youth venue that also serves as a drop in center for homeless teens where they can pick up clothes/toiletries/etc).

Travel sized toiletries went to Primavera Men's Shelter

We also collected and distributed boxes of picture frames, coffee cups, etc. that were sent to The Giving Tree

We're also super stoked about October's project! Bring it on!
