The
Love Alliance Newsletter #12
www.thelovealliance.net
June 3, 2008
Well summer has come on quick. We had an encouraging May and
are so pumped for June. This month we have a birthday, a tour,
and an exciting Action project. Keep reading for more information
on what all went on last month and what is going on this month.

| LAST
MONTH |
| HAPPENINGS |
Last
month we worked vigorously to get ready for tour this summer.
When we announced and explained our specific needs in our
last newsletter we had an amazing response of support from
everyone around us. One example of this is XXX
Church. The day after we announced our need XXX Church
called us up and asked what they can do to help. So we are
happy to announce that XXX Church will be hitting the road
with us for 3 of our four previously announced festivals.
They are an amazing organization and we are so proud and
thankful to be sharing a booth with them.
Last
month we launched our Tour
Support Store. We put up all of our first generation
shirts and tote bags at a discounted price of only $10.
These tote bags and many of the shirt designs have never
been available in our webstore. We have received some great
support from you all through the purchase of products from
this Tour Support Store. FYI we are only keeping the store
open for a little less than a week more until we leave on
tour (June 11th). So if you want to pick up some of these
exclusive products we would recommend heading over to the
Tour Support Store pronto, sizes and time are running out.
Don’t
worry we haven’t only been focusing on tour. Our goal
is and will always remain to educate communities on social
justice issues and to get individuals and groups practically
involved in making a difference towards these issues on
a regular basis. We promise to only support projects that
will further this cause. We are happy to announce that another
Love Alliance group formed in St. Louis last month. We are
excited to see the impact this group and the many other
TLA groups across the country and the world will have. In
fact one of our TLA groups in Stuart, FL has started meeting
weekly in a park in their area to hold picnics for their
group and the homeless of Stuart. We also had another TLA
group in Redding, CA hold a super successful benefit show
for TLA. We are so proud and grateful for the efforts that
these and many other groups are making to impact the world
and their communities. To view pictures of the picnics and
of this benefit show visit the TLA
Flickr page. If you are interested in starting a Love
Alliance group in your area email Action@thelovealliance.net.

| ACTION
PROJECT |
Last
months Action Project was much different than any other Action
Project we’ve had as we realized The Love Alliance was
in need of some major TLC. For those of you who did not read
last month’s newsletter, TLA has some large financial
needs that came up right at the beginning of May. You can read
more about this major need and how it came about in last
month’s newsletter. Last month was a proud month for
us. We were able to see The Love Alliance community come together
and strongly support the purpose of this organization. You all
responded to our financial need in a major way last month, and
all we can say is thank you, a million times thank you. We appreciate
every bit of support more than you can know. While we still
have a great deal of financial need, this month has been a continual
reminder that we are exactly where we need to be, and that all
our needs will without a doubt be provided for. So again, thank
you. We promise to put every penny donated to good use. If you
would still like to donate to our need you can either donate
online or you can mail your donations made out to “The
Love Alliance” to:

| THIS
MONTH |
| HAPPENINGS |
If
you haven’t figured it out from our banner at the
top of this newsletter, June 7th is The Love Alliance’s
1 year birthday! Time has passed so fast, it is really
hard to believe it has been a year already. Thank you
all for being a part of our formative year. Without your
continued support we know it would have been nearly impossible
at times to keep moving forward. But all of your passion
and involvement propels us forward and encourages us that
we have something here that will continue to be active
for a very long time. We commit to continue this organization
until it is no longer possible to go on. So much has happened
in just one year, and honestly we have so many big plans
for the future. So again, thank you for this year, we
hope you can all come along for the many years to come.
The biggest event that will be happening
this month is The Love Alliance summer tour. We already
announced 4 festivals and stated last month that we
may or may not be adding dates to the tour, dependant
on where we financially stand. Well we are glad to announce
that we are adding another 4 festivals to our tour.
While there is still a ton of financial need, we are
confident that we are supposed to be on tour this summer.
If you are going to be at any of the festivals we have
announced and would like to volunteer with The Love
Alliance we would love your help. Simply email Action@thelovealliance.net
to find out how.
Not only are we adding those festival
dates but we are also adding a couple of in between
dates as well. These in between dates are still in the
works but will be announced very soon. If we are driving
through or around your town in between our festival
dates and you would like to set up an event for us to
take part in email Action@thelovealliance.net.
These events can be anything from a speaking event,
a benefit show, to an action project such as feeding
the homeless or cleaning up your area. We want to be
a part of your community and what is going on in it
as much as possible.
We will be starting a tour
blog this month, and will be keeping you all regularly
updated on what is happening on tour. We also will be
starting an audio podcast this month. We’ll be
interviewing people along the entire tour. So keep your
eyes and ears open for those as they regularly come
out.

| ACTION
PROJECT |
So
as you all know, this month is The Love Alliance’s birthday.
So we were thinking, what else screams 1-year-old birthday than
toys? Obviously, we have very little personal use for toys.
But we do know of some children who are in desperate need of
a childhood. Did you know that families with children make up
40% of the U.S. homeless population? And this is just within
the U.S., street children riddle the streets of countries all
over the world. This thought can be staggering. While of course
homeless individuals have a lot of practical needs such as clothes,
this month we are looking a little deeper into the emotional
needs of these children. They have had no say as to what family
or circumstances they have been born into. But still, because
of their home life they struggle to hold onto being worry free
fun loving children. This month we are doing what we can to
bring a little fun to the lives of homeless children in our
community. We encourage everyone to donate at least one toy
to your local homeless shelter. (To find a homeless shelter
in your area, click here
or here)
These toys of course should be new or like new if they are used,
as we want to these children to know that they are both loved
and valued. This month let’s send these children the simple
message that life has not, that they are worthy of good things.
So get your gift together, and encourage your friends, family
and co-workers to also donate at least one gift this month.
As small as this project may seem at first glance, we 100% believe
the potential impact it may have on a life. When we believe
we are valuable when we are young we take this self worth with
us into adulthood. This month, through the simple gift of toys,
we are investing into the futures of children by sending them
the message that they are valuable, loved and worthy of good
things.
Don’t
forget to send us pictures, stories and video of your Action
Projects. We want to know what kind of impact you are having
on your community and the world.
