The
Love Alliance Newsletter #11
www.thelovealliance.net
May 3, 2008
For those of you who are paying attention you may have noticed
that this month’s newsletter is coming two days late. Sorry
for the delay, we’ve had a few bombs drop in The Love Alliance
camp and have been working fast to recuperate and get this month’s
news out to you. We’ll talk some more about these “bombs”
we speak of but before we do lets just get a look at some awesome
things that went on last month in The Love Alliance community.

| LAST
MONTH |
| HAPPENINGS |
Last month was a pretty busy month for The
Love Alliance events. We started off the month with a joint
T.L.A./ Invisible
Children event. We love what I.C. is doing to relieve
the suffering of the war torn people of Northern Uganda and
hope to partner with them much more in the future. (For pictures
from the event visit our Flickr
page)
The
state of California was busy last month supporting T.L.A. to the
fullest. There were two successful benefit shows in the golden
state. One of the benefits was put on by a fantastic supporter
in So-Cal and another by our wonderful Anderson Cali. T.L.A. group.
We are so grateful for their hard work and commitment to ensuring
that The Love Alliance can be around for a long time.
We
also joined the Bradley
Hathaway “Dang Dang Tour” in April. We were able
to talk with a lot of people. We’re in talks with a few
individuals who are pumped to start T.L.A. groups in their area.
We love getting on the road because it allows us to get into communities
to educate them from the inside about social injustice and each
individual’s ability to do something about it. We are so
grateful to Bradley and his band for allowing us to come on the
road with them and for so graciously taking part in a benefit
show in Melbourne. We’ve put together a short video blog
from the tour. Click

| ACTION
PROJECT |
Last
month’s action project was to “Take
Out The Trash.” As a Love Alliance community we all
committed to do community clean ups with our family, friends and
co-workers. Here in Melbourne, FL, we partnered up with Surf Rider
Foundation’s Sebastian Inlet chapter to do a beach clean
up. We never realized how many cigarettes were left on the beach
until we walked away with shopping bags full. We also heard from
so many of you about your experience cleaning up your community
this month. One person who couldn’t make it out to the beach
clean up decided to walk her dog and picked up trash on her way,
coming home with 4 BAGS of trash. Another person who wrote in
told us about her experience cleaning up a part of a local highway
with her family. All in all we as a nationwide and worldwide Love
Alliance community have made a huge positive impact on our planet.
We encourage you all to take this month’s project with you
throughout life remembering how simple it is to make such a large
difference. |
| THIS
MONTH |
| HAPPENINGS |
Now to explain what we were
talking about when we talked of “bombs” being
dropped on The Love Alliance. As we have been hinting for
quite some time now we have some big plans for this summer.
Up until this yesterday we had a company that had offered
and committed to allow us to ride along to all the summer
festivals and stay in their hotels for free. This amazing
offer would have saved our organization thousands of dollars
in fuel and lodging costs. Here is where the bomb drops…
yesterday, two days after the festival application deadline,
and after we had submitted our applications with booth payments
the company that had committed to partnering with us lets
us know that they are no longer going on the festival tour.
So here we are financially invested into these festivals
with no way to get there and no where to stay.
Our
first thought after receiving this news was “there is no
way we can do this tour with the new financial burden it is putting
on the organization.” But after sitting down and gaining
a little perspective we realize just how important it is for us
to be at the festivals this summer. These festivals uniquely provide
an audience of tens of thousands of people who can be educated
on the important issues of social injustice we represent. As Kyle
from Jonezetta stated in our ‘What
is Social Justice Video’, “The first step to changing
the world is realizing there is a problem with the world.”
We have no doubt that tons of Love Alliance groups will form as
a result of this summer’s tour and go on to transform communities.
So here we are, we’re taking the financial risk with the
belief that equipping communities to change the world is a risk
worth trying to grasp.
So
far we have committed to go to four festivals but the more money
we can raise the more festivals we can add to our tour. If you
would like to volunteer at a festival near you email action@thelovealliance.net.

| ACTION
PROJECT |
Now
to announce this month’s Action Project. If you’ve
been around The Love Alliance community long enough you know that
we are extremely outward focused. This month The Love Alliance
needs a little T.L.C. We know we need to be at these festivals
because of the thousands upon thousands of people we will be able
to directly reach to educate and infiltrate their communities.
But We Need Your Help! Right now the biggest
need our organization has is for money. So for this month’s
action project we are asking you all to help raise or donate money
to make this summer tour possible. We're leaving at the beginning
of June for our first festival, so we'll all have the whole month
to make this tour happen. There are so many ways you can help
us make it on the road this summer. Here are some ideas: you can
hold a loose change drive, bake sale, benefit concert, take up
a donation at school, work, church or home. We are confident that
there will be a huge response from our Love Alliance community
to meet our huge need. All donations can be made via credit or
debit through our secure donations link
in this newsletter or on our website.
Or if you would like to send a check, all checks can be made out
to “The Love Alliance” and sent to P.O. Box 111431-
Palm Bay, FL 32911. Thank you all in advance for participating
in this month’s action project. We are confident that there
will be a huge response from our Love Alliance community to meet
our huge need.
